Nora's digs

Lucky you, all you loyal blog followers... this second post of the day today makes back-to-back days of double posts (does that even make sense?! two posts today, two posts yesterday... there, now you've got it). Unheard of! Somebody must be going back to work tomorrow (YUCK!) and is trying to cross things off her to-do list here at home.

Anyway, I have been meaning to post these pictures of Nora's bedroom as her room has been complete for quite some time, but am just getting around to it now. Her room is so pretty (if I do say so myself) and has a tree painted by moi (similar to the trees that Grandma Geraldine and I painted in Tess' old bedroom). Nora's tree is different in that it has leaves made from pretty papers (that I taped/glued to the wall, much to Dad's dismay!). And because her room gets the best light in the house, it is always bright and cheery.

For some reason, this picture makes the room look huge, which it definitely is NOT. We were lucky to inherit the sweet chandelier from the previous owners who also had two little girls.

The mobile birdies were a special gift from my assistant at work, Cassandra. If you love them as much as we do, she hand makes them and sells them on Etsy.

A bookshelf made special for this room by Dad.

Yes, yes, that is a whole string of hair bows hanging there on the right. Shocker, I know. I'm proud to say that I haven't bought any that many since Nora was born as she inherited a bunch from her sister.

Disney on Ice!

Last night, Tess had a special night out with Mom and Dad. We went to dinner (mac & cheese, please) and then to the show! I was a tad nervous about how Tess would react given her severe displeasure (and my severe disappointment with her displeasure) with Elmo Live last February.

When the show started, Tess was a little hesitant, but quickly got into it! Such fun! Although after buying the tickets, popcorn and must-have souvenirs (ok, and a few beers for Mom and Dad) a trip to Disney World itself may be cheaper. Note to self for next year.

Tess and her new toy (or weapon.. yes, it wildly spins around in a Tasmanian Devil-like fashion). This is the one toy that Dad secretly whispered to me about at the souvenir stand... "she can get any one but that one." Of course, it ended up bring the ONLY one she wanted... you can figure out the rest. Chalk it up to being Daddy's girl. As you can see, Dad got over it pretty fast.

Probably why Dad voted against this one

(for the record, she managed to stay unscathed by it - as did everyone in her immediate vicinity - until we were in the car on the way home)

More sledding fun

Tess and Dad just left to hit the slopes once again. Dad is excited to have a little snow monster on his hands. He's chomping at the bit to get her on the real slopes (on skis) next winter.

Daddy's turn

Here is Tess' latest masterpiece... a portrait of Daddy.

Notice he has a smile.

Of course.

This goes hand-in-hand with the Tess-created 'Daddy' lyrics to the Wheels on the Bus that she made up herself. She added a line that goes, "the daddies on the bus say I love you." So sweet. If you're Daddy. Each time I try to change it to "the mommies on the bus say I love you," she gets irritated and reminds me that no!, the mommies say "ssshhh, ssshhh, ssshhh." This is just a preview of the mother/daughter fun we're going to have when she is 16, isn't it?

Nice.

Afterthought: Daddy kinda looks like this guy doesn't he? ha.

(That is Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas movie.)

Dear Tess,

Mommy is so excited that you are getting so big and smart and that you are starting to draw pictures that are actually decipherable. I was even more excited when you offered to draw a picture of me last night. I couldn't wait to see it. You drew it ever so carefully and then showed it to me.

Mommy is now questioning whether or not she needs therapy because she is convinced that she must yell too much. Please say it isn't so.

Well, let's look at the bright side... at least you didn't give Mommy a mustache. Or big ears. Or any ears at all.

Thanks for thinking of me, Sweetie.

Love,
Mommy

More sweet stuff...

Nora is starting to coo here and there. So cute. I want to put a freeze on time right now and keep these moments around longer. They go by too fast.

"AGAIN!"

This is what Tess was saying today at the end of each sled run when she went sledding with Daddy and Papa Art today (in town for Nora's Baptism tomorrow). If you don't believe me, watch any of the sledding videos below (though you'd better watch them all). She had a great time! Grandma Muriel and Norman went too. Grandma didn't make it down the hills, but Norman sure did!

could he carry anything else?!

Happy Birthday, Papa!

Happy Birthday to Papa Larry! We celebrated tonight by going out to eat with him and Meena. Tess had fun by acting like a wild woman and running all over the restaurant. Nora had fun by sleeping through most of the meal and then being held by Meena and Papa. Good times.

This was the best pic of the night since Miss. Knucklehead wouldn't sit still and/or smile and/or look at the camera at the right times.
And no, I am not talking about Nora.

Two months old!

Nora is two months old today! Unbelievable! She is getting a lot bigger and is awake more often - although she is sleeping through the night now (knock on wood), so no complaints here. She is also showing us her smiles a lot more! Tess especially gets tickled when she can make Nora smile.

Here are some shots of a few of the many faces of Nora...
